
Miami, Fla., July 31, 2006 - HOPS, a leading provider of data analytic tools and products, today announced that Arlo Bess has joined the organization as Chief Security Officer and Senior Vice President of Information Systems.
Bess has expertise in many areas, including building highly available and redundant data centers and call centers, building and staffing various departments and teams, launching enterprise-class security programs and running all aspects of disaster recovery and business continuity programs.
"Arlo brings us more than 20 years of information systems and security experience," said Simeon Kohl, CEO of HOPS. "His expertise in payment card and healthcare systems will have a great impact in how we service our clients."
Before joining HOPS, Bess was the regional security officer at eFunds, a 5500-person, multinational financial services firm. He was responsible for the Information Security Program for the Americas, ensuring it was consistent with the overall global security strategy of the company.
Prior to his position at eFunds, Bess was Vice President of Information Security and Vice President of Data Center Operations at WildCard Systems. His roles there ensured that all information systems infrastructure was built to scale quickly and securely, while supporting the high availability demands of the Visa/MasterCard issuing processor environment.
Bess received a B.A. in Business Administration from the University of California and a M.B.A. in Management of Information Systems from California State University. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Information Systems with an emphasis in Information Security.
